YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO THRIVE
IN SCHOOL AND IN LIFE

Few things are more concerning to parents than seeing their child struggle in school. If your child has a learning difference or special learning needs (or you suspect this), it is critical to gain a comprehensive understanding of his or her individual learning needs and address them promptly using research-based methods. Parents' ability to advocate effectively on behalf of their child can make a difference in securing an appropriate educational program that facilitates the child's meaningful progress. Yet parents are often unfamiliar with the school's process, terminology and procedures. They may not understand what their role should be or how to work more effectively with the school team. This is where Individualized Education Advocacy, LLC can help.

ABOUT US

Non-attorney special education advocate and consultant in Fairfield County, CT

Boys at School

Our goal at Individualized Education Advocacy, LLC is to help parents become meaningful participants in planning their child's appropriate education. First, we help parents better understand the special education process and landscape.  We provide support and coaching that can help parents take more effective action. We show parents how they can clearly communicate their child's individual strengths, challenges and learning needs, express concerns, and make requests related to their child's educational program. We also assist parents in developing a constructive and professional relationship with the school team for the benefit of their child.

Carol McGreevey founded Individualized Education Advocacy, LLC driven by her understanding that when a child's unique learning needs are not appropriately addressed, this hinders the child's potential in both school and life. Carol takes a strategic approach to advocacy and believes that an appropriate program must reflect the child's individual strengths -- not only his or her struggles. Carol knows that it is crucial for a child with special learning needs to have a targeted and challenging educational program with objective progress goals that are tenaciously measured and tracked over time.

Beyond her years of practical advocacy experience, Carol has completed more than 350 hours of skilled advocacy training. This includes the nationally recognized Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates' Special Education Advocacy Training (COPAA SEAT 2.0) and a practicum with a leading special education attorney.

Prior to her work at Individualized Education Advocacy, LLC, Carol had a successful career in advertising during which she honed many skills that are essential to effective advocacy: clear communication, creative problem solving, analysis and presentation of data, and collaboration at the decision-making table. Carol holds an M.S. degree from Northwestern University and a B.S. from

the University of Kansas.
